A downloadable game for Windows

You find yourself trapped in the centre of a dark maze inhabited by a mysterious ghostly entity. Use your lantern to ward off this ghostly threat, but be warned, the light does not last for long.

Find spare lanterns hidden through the maze along with the vague maps at the start of each area to find your way out of the maze before your ghostly warden can get her hands on you.

Game developed for Hawktober Horrors 2025 game jam.

Further information:

SPOILER WARNING - Better to go in blind and come back to this if needing more info

  • The maze is split into three sections
  • Each section has a key hidden within it that unlocks the gate that leads to the next section/exit
  • The ghost cannot enter lit areas, including the players lantern
  • The players lantern has an indicator of 'life/energy' on in. It starts as green for 100%, changes to yellow at 50%, then red at 0%. When at 0% there is still just enough light to see, but not enough to keep away the ghost
  • Sprinting makes noise! If the player's light is out and the player makes a noise then the ghost will start chasing the player. If the player does not make a noise then there is a 65% chance she will start chasing. If sneaking or standing still then the chance drops to 40%
  • When the ghost is chasing the player, then the player can get away by either staying out of her sight for a length of time (time is shorter if sneaking), getting far enough away from her, or forcing her to pass through/into a lit area
  • Coming into contact with the ghost, even with a lit lantern, will result in death

Honestly, I was surprised I passed this on the first try. Mazes and I don't really get along, especially when chasing monsters are involved.

Thanks for playing. Glad you made it out!
Promise no mazes next year.
